๐Ÿ“‹ How to Join

Full step-by-step guide. Read every step โ€” the warnings will save you a reinstall.

Before You Start

โš ๏ธ Back up your install. If you have an existing KSP install with mods, back up your entire GameData folder before proceeding. Importing the mod list will change your install.

You will need:

1

Get KSP 1.12.4

You need to own KSP on Steam (or have a copy of 1.12.4 from elsewhere).

If you have a newer version installed:

  1. Right-click Kerbal Space Program in Steam โ†’ Properties
  2. Open the Betas tab
  3. Select 1.12.4 from the dropdown
  4. Let Steam download the older version
macOSKSP runs under Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon โ€” this is normal and fine.
2

Install CKAN

Download CKAN from the official releases page:

โฌ‡ Download CKAN

WindowsDownload ckan.exe and run it.
macOSDownload ckan.dmg, or use the .jar via java -jar ckan.jar.

On first launch, point CKAN at your KSP 1.12.4 install directory and let it update its mod database (this can take a minute).

3

Import the WTK Mod List

โฌ‡ Download WTK-KSP-Multiplayer-Mods.ckan

  1. In CKAN: File โ†’ Import CKAN list
  2. Select the downloaded .ckan file
  3. CKAN will list every mod to install โ€” click Apply
  4. Wait for downloads to finish (10โ€“20 minutes)
โš ๏ธ Do not add or remove mods from this list. Part mods must match exactly between all players or vessels will not load correctly.
4

Install the WTK compatibility patch

The repo includes a ModuleManager patch that fixes known conflicts between mods in this list. Without it you will see B9PartSwitch warning popups on every game load.

  1. Download WTK-Compatibility.cfg.
  2. Create a folder called WTK-Patches inside your KSP GameData folder if it does not already exist.
  3. Place WTK-Compatibility.cfg inside GameData/WTK-Patches/.
  4. Delete these two files from your GameData folder โ€” they will be recreated automatically:
    • ModuleManager.ConfigCache
    • ModuleManager.ConfigSHA
This forces ModuleManager to rebuild its cache and pick up the patch. Skipping this step means the patch is silently ignored.
TantaresRecolors folder check โ€” If you installed mods manually at any point, check that GameData/TantaresRecolors/ does not exist. If it does, delete it. This folder causes B9PartSwitch warnings and is not part of the required mod list.
ModuleManager is installed automatically as a dependency when you import the CKAN file in Step 3.
5

Install LunaMultiplayer Client

Download LMP client v0.29.2:

โฌ‡ LMP 0.29.2 Client

  1. Download LunaMultiplayer-Client-Release.zip
  2. Extract it
  3. Copy the extracted contents into your KSP GameData folder โ€” merge with the existing folder, do not replace it
macOSIf double-click fails to extract the zip, right-click โ†’ Open With โ†’ Archive Utility.
6

Launch and Connect

  1. Launch KSP 1.12.4
  2. From the main menu, click the LMP button (bottom of the screen)
  3. Click Multiplayer
  4. Add a new server:
    • Name: WTK KSP Multiplayer
    • Address: play.waydethekiwi.com
    • Port: 38399
  5. Click Connect
โœ… You're in! Spawn a vessel, say hi in chat, and don't aim for anything important.

Troubleshooting

"Missing parts" on a vessel

Someone used a mod you don't have, or your mod versions don't match the CKAN file. Re-import the CKAN file to fix.

Can't connect

Check the server status on the home page. If the server is online and you still can't connect:

  • Windows: allow KSP through Windows Defender Firewall (Control Panel โ†’ System and Security โ†’ Windows Defender Firewall โ†’ Allow an app).
  • macOS: System Settings โ†’ Network โ†’ Firewall โ€” make sure it's not set to block all incoming connections.
  • If the address just shared with you doesn't resolve yet, DNS may still be propagating โ€” wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Still stuck? Ping WaydeTheKiwi on Twitch.

Game crashes on load

A mod failed to install. Open CKAN, click Refresh, check for errors, and reinstall any failed mods.

macOS โ€” KSP won't launch after mod install

Right-click KSP.app โ†’ Open to bypass Gatekeeper on any new .dylib files.
